“If Drake was skint and living on a sink estate in Essex..”

The Guardian

Nick Brewer is a 24-year-old Essex boy who makes sorrowful hip hop with evocative rhymes and dreamily melancholy production. Brewer isn’t some cocky rapper, quite the opposite. He speaks about dejection and the hopelessness of getting by in a grim East London suburb. And yet somehow he and his production team make it sound shabbily glamorous. Brewer is also a sometime youth worker and draws upon his own experiences and conclusions, but not in any sort of righteous or repetitive way. His stark delivery combined with the eerie production and lush musicality present his stories through a fascinating sort of twilight haze. His output to date may be found on previous mixtapes ‘Alone With My Thoughts 1 & 2’, and on the his recently release debut EP, ‘Flat 10’
