“Tantalising, untamed and laced with melody”
The 405
Both based in Southeast London and having met through mutual band friends, guitarist/vocalist Matthew Poile and drummer Alex Morris bonded over their shared love of obscure Italian horror films. Following a creative meeting in Poile’s shed over a rough set of demos, Cushed Beaks was born as their DIY tour de force to embody the aesthetics of their cinematic heroes.
The resulting trademark dusky reverberating guitars and relentless rhythms are always highlighed by Poile’s pop sensibilities which bring each song to life. Comparisons to the likes of No Age and My Bloody Valentine go some way toward explaining the urgency of their sound – but not of experiencing it in the flesh.
