“The mathy skronk of Battles, Foals’ wounded hearts and The xx’s sense of space, all tempered by a freeness of mind that only comes from breathing a dose of sea air each morning”
NME
Tall Ships formed in late 2009 in Falmouth, inspired by bands such as Battles, Sigur Rós and Biffy Clyro. They began performing across the country and released their debut 4-track self-titled EP by early 2010 and their second ‘There Is Nothing But Chemistry Here’ soon after. It wasn’t long before the band established themselves as one of the most exciting new bands to watch in 2011. ‘Everything Touching’, their album debut, saw its release in late 2012 and won the band high acclaim from various corners of the media. They have since had relentless touring and festival schedules and are currently writing their second album. Tall Ships members, Ric Phethean (guitar, keys and vocals), bassist Matt Parker (bass, keys and vocals) and drummer Jamie Bush (drums) now reside in Brighton.
