“They understand that while anyone can be a lo-fi DIY band, good lo-fi DIY bands win their fans because they have melodies as good as anything the groups in big studios can manage. Marvellous, and highly recommended”

The Guardian

Formed in Manchester in 2009, Mazes are a three-piece made up of Jack Cooper on vocals and guitar, Conan Roberts on bass and Neil Robinson on drums. The following year, after a couple of self-released singles, the band signed to independent Fat Cat Records and recorded their debut album ‘A Thousand Heys’ in a studio based in a boat on the River Thames and released on the label in 2011. Their sound has often likened been likened to such to American greats such as Pavement and Sebadoh and when their second album, ‘Ores & Minerals’, came in 2013 it was met by jubilant reviews. It’s a more refined vision of Mazes’ sound and just as buoyant as their previous material, but honed into a taught exploration of their musical passions.
