Founded by MOBO award-winning artist Akala, the Hip-hop Shakespeare Company (‘THSC’) is a music theatre production company aimed at exploring the social, cultural and linguistic parallels between the works of William Shakespeare and that of modern day rappers. Previous collaborators include: Ed Sheeran, Ashley ‘Bashy’ Thomas, Ms. Dynamite, TY, Zena Edwards and Kate Tempest. ‘Hip Hop Shakespeare Live’ at the Camden Crawl 2012 will involve a series of performances featuring special guest artists who will be joined onstage by the renowned THSC artist associates, live band and young aspiring talent all performing a medley of songs inspired by scenes and quotes from famous Shakespeare plays and sonnets.
