Katy B is certainly one to watch into 2010, Barely out of her teens the precociously talented chanteuse has already galvanised massive underground success with her Funky tracks ‘Tell Me’ and ‘As I’, both gained widespread radio support and the former went on to be signed to Ministry of Sound. Katy’s songs demonstrate her old soul; mature, insightful lyrics wrapped in the richly soulful texture of her voice, recalling early India (of Master’s At Work fame) and a young Jill Scott. The singer song-writer and Brit School graduate recently wowed a sold-out crowd at Somerset House and is currently working on her debut album which includes productions from Zinc (‘138 Trek’), Geeneus (‘Get Low’) and Benny Ill (Horsepower), as well as a collaboration with Mercury Music Prize winner Ms Dynamite. Fostered by the vibrant Funky scene, Katy B has travelled the length and breadth of the UK performing PA’s of her club hits, captivating audiences with her luscious vocals which betray a passion and understanding of the legacy of great soul and R&B singers that she is set to become a part of.
