THE Q&A CRAWL: NOVELLA | News | The Camden Crawl 2012

What is your first memory or experience of Camden Town?

Camden has a special place in my heart and I have quite a few memories – I went on a first date there and also worked there for a little while, and used to go out there a lot when I was 18 and hang out at the Elephant’s Head before going to a great 50s and 60s club in Belsize Park called Burn Out, which only happened twice but were two of my most favourite nights in Camden. My earliest memory is probably travelling up there from Southend when I was about 14 with my boyfriend at the time so he could buy a Linkin Park hoodie. I was not impressed by the hoodie, but thought that Camden was both fascinating and probably a bit scary at the same time. I remember visiting the record shops and buying records even though I didn’t own a record player – probably the latest single from someone like Seafood or Easyworld, I was way into them at the time.

In what one other city would you put on a festival like the Camden Crawl and why?

Well if it had to be any other city other than London then I think I’d choose somewhere in the States just because we all really really want to go and play there. New York, or somewhere on the west coast, LA or San Francisco. Or Macau because I really want to see where Suki is from but I’m not sure Macau is ready for Novella!!

If the band were to appear live on any US television series, which would it be?

Ermm I’d like us to appear in Mad Men performing as a 60s Velvet Underground-esque type band playing at one of the loft parties Peggy goes to when she starts experimenting with trippy drugs.

What one instrument that isn’t part of your line-up do you secretly wish was?

The vibraslap.

Describe your sound in 10 words or less:

Loud, hairy, riff-tastic, droney pop-melodies.

What is the most interesting event the band has planned for 2012?

Probably the release of our EP which is coming out in a couple of weeks on Italian Beach Babes. You can pre-order it here!

Tipple of choice?

Cherry Lambrini
