Willy Moon’s ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’ was a sharp and stylish opening gambit from the dapper 21 year old, which has already clocked up over 400,000 plays on Youtube and had Rough Trade record shop call it the “best single of the year”. Since then, Willy has been working on new music in his home studio, and ‘Yeah Yeah’ is the first result. Taking its cue from Afrika Bambaataa specifically and early hip hop in general, the track is built around a central sample from Wu-Tang Clan’s ‘Wu-Tang Ain’t Nuthing Ta F’Wit’. The result is a rowdy, highly compressed collision of cut-ups and sounds (if you listen closely you can also hear The Meters and James Brown in there too). Willy continues making new, unexpected, original music.
